In 1987, John Agrusa and Rick & Phyllis VerStrate had a dream about opening a pizza place. After working for relatives in other family owned restaurants for many years, they all combined their experience to open Sara’s Pizza in October of 1987.
John and Phyllis had their grandfather from Italy teach them to make dough, just like they do in the old Sicilian bakeries. Nonna Maria taught them how to make everything the old fashioned way, homemade spaghetti sauce, lasagna, meatballs and more!
All of our pizzas are hand tossed and made special for each customer. Not only do we use our family recipes, that have been passed through the generations, but we cook them the old fashion way in our stone ovens.
